Breast Cancer Awareness Month – October 2021

Around 11,500 people die from breast cancer in the UK each year and 1 in 7 women in the UK will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.

Early detection of breast cancer can save lives, so it’s important to have a breast screen when offered to you by the NHS.

Checking your breasts on a regular basis is also a good habit to maintain, as you can let your GP know immediately if you have any concerns.

We are aware that many could not attend their regular screening due to the pandemic, so it is important now to re-engage and ensure you do not miss out.

Sadly, we also know the pandemic meant that many cases of cancer were not picked up on time, but now that breast screening has resumed, we hope more people will take the opportunity to have one.

Keep being breast aware!
